Well, not quite. Classes start next Monday, but there's SO much preparation involved. I tend to forget that I'll be away from home for months, and I try to pack on the light side, even though I probably need to pack heavy...Oh well! ^^ Hopefully the one thing I'll be splurging on will be food: no athlete can truly subsist on ramen! XD

I've been back from Spain for a while- it was an amazing trip! The kinds of things I did, saw, and ate would probably shock most people back home. An example: I ended up eating snails, octopus tentacles, snail-and-rabbit paella, rabbit, and bulls tail! The only thing I really didn't like on that trip, scarily enough, was shrimp. Snails can be a bit rubbery if not done correctly (tried them multiple times), but octopus tentacles are really quite good when lightly fried (though since you can still see every one of the little suckers, they're not for the faint of heart!). Honestly, the best thing on the bizarre foods list besides the rabbit was the bull's tail. Sure, there were three vertebrae the size of my fist on the plate, but the meat was a lot like pulled pork in texture. Yummy!! The food wasn't the only awesome thing (though I was totally considering frolicking through the olive fields, I loved their olives so much). I got the chance to stand inside a bullfighting ring (sans the bull), visit the Plaza Mayor, view the Black Paintings, and see El Alhambra, what I feel is one of the most beautiful places I've seen.
  
Lately, I've been in Arizona, staying with family and generally keeping busy (busy enough not to draw much ). I've so far done several things I'd never done before: 1. Swim in a saltwater pool 2. Hike in 108 degree weather (And that was at 5:30 a.m.!) 3. Shoot anything other than an atlatl. The other day, I also made six pizzas in under three hours with the help of my mom. Needless to say, it's been an interesting few days.

Given that I am scanner-less and that I was just given my parents' old camera, I'll be slow in uploading things for a while (especially since I've got a full courseload and then some). It will happen, though And of course, I'll continue to be on DA, so I'm not going too far. ^^

Just a quick update, particularly for those of you that I've promised drawings to (don't worry, I will finish them!).

I just registered for classes for college- super excited about that! I was at orientation for the better part of last week (got back on Father's Day), and I managed to have a mishap while in Arizona.... I was mountain-biking for the first time, and I lasted about five minutes before I hit the handbrake too hard and took a nice little spill. I managed to shave the skin off of my elbow and knee, not to mention my palm, so I'm just now getting back into drawing. I now have a healthy appreciation for bikes I don't know. I will try it again sometime, and hopefully I won't wipe out

Also, I will be in Spain for about three weeks, starting Saturday. ^^ I'm really excited- I'll be learning Latin, practicing my Spanish, and generally trying to catch up on everything (including drawing). I will be staying at a friend's house, and I won't have my own computer, so I may not post for a while. It's not me ignoring anything or anyone, I promise!

I'd also like to announce that hopefully I will be uploading some art based on "The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray" when I get back from Spain. I just finished re-reading the book while in Arizona, and the amount of nightmarish creatures in it just made me want to draw them all. Quite a few of them are ridiculously disturbing, and I hope to do them justice.

In other news, I cut off about half of my hair. It was nearly to my hips, but now it's above my shoulders. I can now cosplay Mystique!!!

Midterms are finally over! Can't tell you how glad I am for that!

I realize I say this every time I put up a journal, but I'm hoping to get more art up soon (and this time, I actually think I might be able to do it)! ^^

I may try to draw for friends, but I will definitely have some trouble getting back to you quickly- I'm currently swamped with college applications, their Honors College applications, and the other applications for scholarships. BUT I've gotten several acceptances, so it will be worth the work if I can get a great scholarship

Beyond that, though, I've been busy with school clubs, film projects, class office, and swimming. The highlight of my fall was traveling down to the Pecos area to study prehistoric rock art with my mentor (pretty awesome, especially for a Linguistics mentorship) for school.

So I got my greedy paws on Prisma colors of my own, finally!!!
I can't wait to put them to good use!!!!!

Hopefully this means stuff will get done faster, and prettier...in color. No promises on how fast stuff will go; my teachers have designated November and December as workloads up the yin-yang, but here's me hoping I can get it done anyways ^^

So yeah....that's about it. Just did a self-portrait (which I won't put up) and drew some pumpkins in art class (which I want to put up). Also just visited yet another college. That would be my life in a nutshell.
